Count Basie Orchestra
Sunday, May 25th, 4pm @ The Paramount
In his 80-year life span, William “Count” Basie so expanded and elevated jazz that modern music connoisseurs regard his legacy as “an American institution.” The majority of the sound from today’s Count Basie Orchestra -- composed of nineteen performers committed to upholding and advancing the tradition -- still swings from many musicians hand-picked by Count Basie himself. Recipient of 17 Grammys, the Orchestra continues to accumulate awards and special recognitions, performing Basie favorites from “Jumpin' at the Woodside” and “One O'Clock Jump” to “April in Paris.”
